A Beautiful Summer Evening for Senior Pictures
Matthew had a beautiful summer evening for his senior photo session! We had previously needed to adjust our original date due to rain, but our rescheduled evening gave us perfect weather and amazing clouds over the mountains at sunset for a gorgeous session.
Matthew came with three different shirt and sweater combinations to give us a variety of looks, so we planned those out before getting started. He had a great brown sweater for his first outfit, which worked perfectly among the trees and architecture around our location.
Relaxed Senior Portraits Around the Trees and Architecture
Matthew humored me as we tried a variety of poses in a section of trees before making our way around the clubhouse for some seated photos along the low brick walls. Having several different backgrounds within a short walk gave us plenty of variety while keeping the session relaxed.
I enjoyed hearing about Matthew’s senior year at Cherokee Trail High School, including his current class schedule with several AP classes and his plans to tackle college applications in the coming months. At the moment, he’s considering civil engineering, but it sounds like he has plenty of options and interests to explore both this year and beyond.
Golden Hour and Colorado Mountain Views
For Matthew’s second look, he chose an open button-down shirt, and I loved pairing it with the beautiful sky as we entered the heart of golden hour. We had great views toward Pikes Peak and across the lawn, and we moved around the area to capture plenty of options for his yearbook photo along with more relaxed senior portraits.
One of my favorite things about Colorado senior sessions is how quickly the light and sky can change as sunset approaches. After having to reschedule because of rain, we definitely lucked out with this evening!
Ending the Session With an Incredible Colorado Sunset
Matthew had a nice olive green sweater for his final look, which we purposely saved for our last sunset pictures. The solid color was perfect against the landscape — and the sky did not disappoint!
We had views toward Pikes Peak in one direction and beautiful Rocky Mountain views in another. We also walked down the hill for a few final photos near the windmill and some of the more natural areas filled with native grasses and pine trees before ending our time together.

It was such a joy to spend the evening with Matthew and his mom and capture this special moment at the beginning of his senior year. I wish Matthew all the best with his college applications and hope he has an amazing final year at Cherokee Trail High School!
