Senior Pictures at Denver's Iconic Cheesman Park
This next senior sneak peek brought me to a truly iconic Denver location for the first time! Cheesman Park is well known for its beautiful open spaces, mature trees, and stunning white pavilion with classical columns. It's such a unique setting for senior pictures in Denver, offering a wonderful combination of natural scenery and classic architecture.
For Ethan and his family, this location was especially meaningful. Ethan and his mom shared that they used to live near Cheesman Park, making it a special place to return to for his senior portraits. I always love when families choose a location that holds personal memories, and this was such a wonderful way to celebrate Ethan's senior year!
We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful summer evening. The weather was perfect, the golden light was gorgeous, and the park was full of people enjoying the outdoors. There were even several other photography sessions happening around the pavilion! Thankfully, Cheesman Park offers so much space and variety that we were able to explore all the iconic areas while still finding plenty of beautiful spots for Ethan's portraits.
Getting to Know Ethan | Denver Senior Portrait Session
One of my favorite parts of photographing high school seniors is getting to know these incredible students and hearing about their interests and future plans.
I enjoyed visiting with Ethan about his previous experience in cheerleading and his interest in pursuing a career in nursing. He's currently enjoying the flexibility that homeschooling provides, which also meant we could approach his senior portraits without needing to worry about specific yearbook requirements.
Ethan brought two great outfits that gave us a nice variety of looks throughout his session. We started with a casual green plaid shirt and later switched to a dressier blue button-down with a subtle white dot pattern. Both complemented his style beautifully and allowed us to capture portraits that felt relaxed and natural alongside some more polished, classic images.
Senior Portraits at the Cheesman Park Pavilion
We began our session on the west side of the Cheesman Park Pavilion, where the beautiful trees and summer flower beds created a wonderful natural backdrop. From there, we explored the surrounding stairs and the front of the pavilion, taking advantage of even more colorful flowers and greenery.
Of course, one of the biggest reasons Cheesman Park is such a popular Denver photography location is its gorgeous neoclassical pavilion. The white columns, grand architecture, and open walkways create a timeless setting for senior portraits.
Even with other visitors enjoying the pavilion, we were able to work around the activity and capture a great variety of images along the exterior columns and inside the main pavilion area.
I loved how much variety we could find within such a small area. From the soft greenery and colorful flowers to the bold architectural lines of the pavilion, Cheesman Park offers a beautiful balance of natural and urban-inspired senior pictures.
Golden Hour Senior Pictures with the Denver Skyline
As the evening continued, we were treated to a stunning Colorado sunset over the Front Range. The golden light and colorful sky created the perfect opportunity to capture some beautiful portraits with the park and downtown Denver skyline in the background.
Ethan was such a great sport as I moved us between different locations and lighting scenarios to make the most of that gorgeous evening light!
We finished our session with a few quick portraits along the fence near the Denver Botanic Gardens before finding one last charming residential street lined with beautiful homes, classic lampposts, and summer flower beds.
It was the perfect way to wrap up a session that offered everything from classic architecture and natural greenery to a little bit of Denver's urban character.
Celebrating Ethan's Senior Year in Denver
I had such a wonderful time exploring Cheesman Park with Ethan and his family! It's always special to photograph seniors in locations that have personal meaning, and this beautiful Denver park provided the perfect setting to celebrate this exciting milestone.
