Capturing Colorado's Beautiful Fall Colors
Lily caught the beginning of fall at just the right time as the leaves started changing across the Denver metro area. Before heading to our main senior portrait location, we made a quick stop at a beautiful little hillside where the cottonwoods and aspens were beginning to show off their golden autumn colors.
Lily started her session in a beautiful cream-colored shirt with soft pink top that complemented the warm fall scenery perfectly. We captured several portraits along the pathway with the changing leaves in the background, along with some beautiful images on a little park bench overlooking the colorful trees.
It's always fun to incorporate seasonal details into senior pictures, and Colorado's fall foliage made a beautiful addition to Lily's gallery!
Golden Hour Senior Portraits Among the Pine Trees
From there, we headed to our main photography location, where the evening light shown through the pine trees. We started in an area with gorgeous golden light filtering through the branches, creating a soft, warm glow for Lily's senior portraits.
As we walked around, I enjoyed chatting with Lily about her interest in art, particularly painting with acrylics, and her final year of high school. It's always wonderful getting to know my seniors a little better during their sessions!
One of my favorite things about this location is the variety of beautiful little spots tucked throughout the area. From brick walls with filtered sunlight and colorful landscaping to tall pine trees, summer flowers, and a charming little bridge, there are so many opportunities for different backgrounds and portrait styles.
As the light shifted throughout the evening, we moved between these areas to take advantage of the changing conditions. Even some of the purple foliage and remaining summer flowers made their way into Lily's portraits, giving us a wonderful mix of seasonal colors.
Lily was such a great sport as we explored the different spots, and I loved how much variety we were able to capture!
Stunning Colorado Sunset Senior Pictures with Mountain Views
For the final part of her senior session, Lily changed into a more casual outfit with jeans and a babydoll top, just in time for an incredible Colorado sunset.
We headed to an open hillside overlooking the mountains, where the evening sky was absolutely beautiful. With views of both Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains, we had the perfect backdrop for Lily's sunset senior portraits.
We even managed to use a little Colorado wind to our advantage, creating what I like to call “model hair”.
The combination of the soft evening light, mountain scenery, and colorful sky made for such a gorgeous ending to her session. These are the moments I love about photographing high school seniors in Colorado. Sometimes Mother Nature gives us something truly special!
Celebrating Lily's Senior Year
This season I've had the honor of photographing several senior guys, so it was a fun surprise to realize that Lily was actually my first senior girl of the season!
I loved getting to change things up a little, spend the evening with Lily, and capture a beautiful variety of senior pictures that she and her family can treasure for years to come.
Lily, thank you for such a wonderful evening! I wish you all the best as you enjoy your final year of high school and look ahead to everything that comes next!
