It's hard to believe I've been photographing this wonderful family for five years! From our earliest sessions when there were just three kids in the pictures to now capturing all five, it has been such a joy to watch their family grow. I joked that they've officially caught up to my own five-kid crew! Getting to photograph families year after year is one of my favorite parts of being an Aurora family photographer, and this session was another beautiful chapter in their story.

Finding Fall Colors for Family Photos in Aurora

Fall in Colorado has been a little unusual this year! Some locations around Aurora and the Denver metro area have leaves that haven't quite changed, while others lost their beautiful colors quickly after our recent stretch of rainy, windy weather.

Thankfully, one of my favorite local parks still had some wonderful pockets of fall color tucked away among the trees. I love exploring beyond the main pathways to find those hidden little spots that create beautiful, natural backdrops for family pictures.

The one unexpected challenge? Mosquitoes! Apparently, they hadn't gotten the message that fall had arrived. This sweet family was such a great sport about the pesky little bugs, especially as we worked through our first wooded location.

Family Portraits, Sibling Pictures, and Five Wonderful Kids

I always like to begin family photography sessions with some of the most important images: the entire family together, sibling groupings, and individual portraits of each child. We found a beautiful area among the trees to get started, and I put my own five-kid parenting experience to good use as we rotated everyone through different combinations!

One of my favorite moments was recreating a sibling picture we had taken back in 2022. In the original photo, the kids were lying on their tummies together on a blanket. With two more little boys now part of the family, it was definitely time for an updated version!

We even found almost the exact same spot to recreate that special memory. I absolutely love how photographs like these tell the story of a growing family, especially when we can look back and see just how much has changed over the years.

Golden Aspens and Beautiful Fall Family Memories

As we continued exploring the park, we made our way toward a little boardwalk area with beautiful overlooks of the changing fall foliage. It was the perfect setting for pictures of Mom with the kids, followed by some special moments with Dad and all five children.

Everyone continued to brave the mosquitoes as we made our way through the boardwalk and toward our final location, where some gorgeous yellow aspens were waiting for us!

One tradition Mom always requests is a picture of each child with both parents. I think it's such a wonderful way to end a family photography session, giving every child their own special moment with Mom and Dad. With plenty of snuggles and beautiful fall colors surrounding us, these portraits were the perfect finishing touch.

Celebrating Five Years of Family Photography Memories

There is something incredibly special about getting to photograph the same family year after year. From watching little personalities grow to welcoming new siblings and recreating favorite photographs, these sessions become so much more than just an annual family picture.

As a mom of five myself, I also know firsthand how meaningful it is to have beautiful photographs of a big family all together. Those moments can feel a little chaotic behind the scenes, but the memories are absolutely worth it!

I'm so grateful to have been part of this family's story for the past five years and loved capturing another beautiful fall session for them. Enjoy this little sneak peek into their wonderful family pictures!
