Avril's First Birthday Sneak Peek

It was so great to see this family again, now for their third daughter’s first birthday celebration! We’ve done previous birthday sessions for the girls, and it was fun to see how much the sisters have grown and watch their personalities interact with each other. Avril did a butterfly theme with both pinks and fairies, and it was the perfect girly mix for her and her sisters.

The family opted to upgrade their package to get photos of all three girls while they were in the studio, so we started off with the portraits of the sisters and then let each girl take a turn by themselves in all my special chairs. They each had butterfly wings on the back of their dresses, which we definitely checked to make sure they twirled, and lots of butterfly clips in their hair.

The two older girls also ensured they each had pearl necklaces and helped Avril with hers whenever she tried to take it off. We got individual photos of each girl with their fancy dresses, and then focused on just the baby for a few first birthday pics before getting ready for the cake.

We switched to the fairy door background with butterflies and the girls changed dresses so they were ready to help Avril with her cake. Avril gave it a solid try, but wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do which meant it was the perfect time to let the big sisters join!

The girls took turns cutting the cake with a little server and tried feeding pieces to Avril. They also throughly enjoyed eating cake themselves and licking all the delicious frosting off their fingers. Avril was much more willing to try cake with them by her side, so all three girls enjoyed a messy tea party of sorts!

We ended by letting just Avril hold the spotlight with a special splash bath. She loved the warm water and was very gentle with the toys and gold butterflies we placed around the tub. She also showed off her whistling skills which was too funny, and we got several great smiles of her enjoying the bath.

A very happy first birthday to Avril and a huge thank you to the family for all the help wrangling girls, adding butterfly clips to hair, and cleaning frosting!
