Rowan's Newborn Sneak Peek
It was so exciting to finally meet Rowan after he surpassed his due date! He was one adorable little chunk at over 8 and a half pounds, and I had such fun gathering props and fabrics for him in different shades of green and blue. He kept me on my toes with adjusting for his size and a short bout of hiccups, but we captured lots of precious images and even snagged a sneaky smile.
Rowan arrived wanting to eat before we started, so we ended up changing our initial order of pictures to ensure he could eat and then get swaddled afterwards. His mom brought in some family heirlooms to include in a few pictures like a baby bonnet and a well loved teddy bear. So while Rowan was swaddled I had fun adding in the bonnet and teddy to capture a few pictures with the family items.
Rowan took his time falling asleep so I added in more swaddles and just went at his pace. That meant we got a few great pics with his eyes open before be drifted off to sleep again, plus one of my favorites of him with my orange fox set. He rocked that little fox bonnet while holding the lovey!
We then moved to his family portraits with mom and dad where Rowan fully relaxed at last and slept. We made sure to try our big props during this time and I was excited to get one set on the moon prop and some in the moon basket which had been requested by his mom. He loved being on his back more than his tummy so we opted to move to the curly, sleepy poses on the beanbag where he would be most comfortable.
Rowan loved snuggling on the beanbag so we were able to do multiple poses, change out hats, add wraps, and just enjoy playing around with different angles. He also really enjoyed laying on his back so I quickly added in a few extra poses there, one with the swing, and one with his parents hands around him.
It’s sometimes a gamble with bigger newborns on what props fit and what keeps them comfortable, but Rowan did a fabulous job during his modeling debut! It was a joy to capture his chubby cheeks, precious back rolls, and all that amazing hair. Enjoy this little sneak peek into his special newborn session.
