Karter's First Birthday Sneak Peek

Sweet Karter was back in the studio to celebrate his very first birthday! He was just as cute as I remembered from his 6 month milestone session, and while he took his photos very serious, we captured his adorable personality and first bites of cake.

Karter’s mom had requested some fall type images for his nice photos pre cake, and I so enjoyed pulling out my pumpkins and fall leaves. I actually think I love decorating for fall more than the holidays (gasp, I know!) and it’s always so fun to set up a scene with lanterns, leaves, pumpkins, and sometimes a little red truck.

Karter was very serious about taking photos and while perfectly pleasant he kept his smiles to himself for a bit. We did get some adorable pictures of him checking out the lights inside the lantern and even showing off his standing skills as he much preferred standing to sitting in one of my toddler chairs.

We did a very simple cake smash for him and I love how those keep the focus on the baby. Karter wasn’t sure about the cake or getting messy, but he really liked the number 1 candle his mom had brought so he scooped up frosting on there before licking it off. He also picked out some puffs treats from inside the cake or just carefully considered if he liked sugar or not.

He did flash one awesome smile at the end which was the perfect finale for his photo session, and I so enjoyed getting to see him and his family again. I wish him the very best first birthday and more cake at his party!
