Katy's Summer Family and Maternity Sneak Peek

I got to spend an evening with Katy and her family, and while the smoky air kept us from seeing the mountains, it didn’t stop us from capturing beautiful family and maternity photos.

We decided on two nearby locations for the maternity pictures, one with the water and one where we can typiclaly see the mountains. The water spot is especially gorgeous this time of year with everything in bloom and the greenery around the little lake.

Dylan, the family’s little toddler, loved the idea of wandering the rocks, and I’m so glad we captured some quick family photos with her before she decided she’d rather explore. I was also able to snag a few of her and her daddy walking the area, and some of just Katy in her beautiful pink summer dress.

At the second spot we got creative since the mountains were hidden in the smoke that particular evening. But the lighting was still pretty so we used the evergreen trees in the area and other spots that had great summer color. Dylan was my very best friend at this point, but much preferred her freedom to taking pictures.

Yet mom truly wanted one last photo with her sweet Dylan sitting on her baby bump. After a few unsuccessful attempts, we changed gears and tricked her into letting mom hold her because she was “getting put in the car”. That quick photo in the parking lot at the end redeemed it all and I’m so excited to share that sweet memory.

I look forward to seeing this family again in the coming months when their newest little girl arrives!
