Poppy's Newborn Sneak Peek
It was so wonderful to see this family again after meeting them in the hospital last week. Sweet Penelope (Poppy) was already getting bigger and I had such fun with her session and creating a unique theme just for her. Her parents brought in lots of poppy flowers in red and white and I loved getting to incorporate those into her newborn pictures to match her nickname.
Poppy was initially awake when she arrived but a quick diaper change and snuggle and she was fast asleep and ready for pictures! Her mom asked for whites and pops of red to go with the flowers and the twig bed was the perfect prop to wrap flowers around.
Her dad also had a vintage baby scale that I learned he’d been photographed on as well as many others in his family. After making sure if could safely hold Poppy, she happily curled up on top and we got a the much needed photo to continue the tradition.
I used several of the flowers the family brought in, some in white and others in red to mix and match as I changed props and wraps. I loved the poppy flower petals, too, and those were especially fun to scatter around the wooden heart bowl with sweet Poppy inside.
She was a fantastic sleeper and eventually relaxed completely, letting me truly adjust her tiny fingers. She loved the warm fabric at the end on the beanbag and sleeping on her tummy so I made the most of it by adding in more wraps and flowers before shifting her to her back for a few final pictures.
I loved getting to drape flowers and stems along the swing prop and she slowly started to wake right as I finished. I can’t wait to share this very special sneak peek with the family of their sweet Poppy!
