Lielle's First Birthday Cake Smash

After almost 2 long months of not being able to photograph other families, my first session back was with sweet Lielle and her parents as they celebrated her first birthday. This family was so amazing as I worked through the quirks and new safety policies for re-opening, and I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and patience during the process. For this particular session, we brought the studio outdoors on my patio to minimize risks, and I think it was a huge success!

The last time I saw Lielle she was just a week old! It’s always so amazing to get to see these little ones grow and change over the years, and Lielle is now a spunky sassy little girl. She was also so pleasant and curious about the camera that I got great images of her looking at me during our session. Her mom planned a great theme of “one in a melon” so we did pinks and greens to go with a watermelon type theme. I also adored the tiny parasol prop they brought, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to need to find one to add to my prop collection!

Lielle thoroughly enjoyed her cake, and I loved how she systematically took off each little fondant tea cup before trying the cake. She sang along with her parents to some of her favorite toddler songs while examining her hands for icing. She seemed to truly enjoy her first taste of “sweet” and happily enjoyed the cake smash in her pink tutu.

A huge happy first birthday to Lielle! I’m so glad I got to see you and your parents again and I hope your birthday involves more cake, icing, and some wrapping paper!
